How to learn English “Effectively”

Allah SWT mentions in the Quran “Read in the name of your Lord who created. Created man from a clinging substance. Read, and your Lord is the most Generous—Who taught by the pen—Taught man that which he knew not.” (Surah Al-Iqra (Surah Al-Alaq), Verse 1-5)

These opening verses of Surah Al-Iqra emphasize the act of reading and learning through the command of Allah. The pen, representing knowledge and learning, is highlighted as a means through which human beings are taught what they did not know. It means that as humans, learning is the most important thing we have to do.

Nowadays, English has become one of the crucial skills that we need to master. It’s because English is one of the international languages. In the global world, we’re required to be able to speak English effectively. No space between countries all over the world through technology is the reason why we need to have one international language to master such as English.

English plays a big part in our lives for example the technology that develop today, most of them use English in giving instruction. Hence, we as a human today need to master English to avoid misunderstanding and can follow the technology development.

However, learning English becomes a challenge for students who live in developing countries like Indonesia. On the other hand, English is not their mother tongue so most students do not speak English every day. So here, some tips for learning English effectively and in a fun way we can follow:

1. Set your goal

The first thing you have to do is you must know your purpose in learning English. The reason why you need to master in English. It will give you the motivation to find a way to learn English. When you think that English is not important, it means that you have a lack of motivation which means you will find difficulties in learning English. However, when you think that English is important to support your future, you will have high motivation to learn English. In the end, learning English can be so much fun.

2. Make a routine

Learning language is about habit. When you practice a lot, you will master the language. That is the key. It means that you have to plan your learning activities, for example, how many times you learn English in a week, and try to do all activities using English in the Learning English schedule. Such as, making English conversation, reading English books or articles, writing English poems or stories, etc.

3. Make mistakes

In learning a language sometimes, we make mistakes or errors. Don’t worry about that. We won’t be perfect as English learners, even some natives also make mistakes. By making mistakes, we can improve our skills. You can ask people that mastered English to correct your mistakes.

4. Understand the culture

Learning English is easier when we also understand the culture. By understanding the culture, you will have more chances to connect with English. Such as, when you want to know about their history, you will find an article about their history which is written in English. So, it will give you more experience to learn English.

There are some ways how to learn English effectively. Therefore, learning English is fun if we enjoy it. The main point, first you have to love English so your learning experience will be enjoyable. 😊😊
